From these observations my project of alveolar hollowing of the blank was born.

In occasione del Raduno IBRA del 2010, avevo presentato alcuni studi su questo tipo di svuotatura dai quali emergevano alcune particolari caratteristiche di quella alveolare. Questi studi erano stati fatti utilizzando un software CAD tridimensionale che mi dava la possibilità di verificare le superfici e i volumi riferiti ai tre tipi di svuotatura.

During the 2010 Gathering, I had introduces some works on this type of hollowing from which some particolar characteristics emerge. I had carried out these studies using a 3D CAD software which let me verify the surface areas and the volumes referred to three types of hollowing.

I listelli svuotati per mezzo di una semplice lima tonda si presentano con una particolare conformazione che ha suggerito a Moreno Borriero il nome di "dente di squalo"

The strips which are hollowed using a simple round file before gluing  have a particular conformation that suggested Moreno Borriero to call it “Shark Tooth”.

la realizzazione di due grezzi identici: uno pieno e uno svuotato a dente di squalo, ottenuti con listelli della stessa stanga, temprati contemporaneamente e sottoposti a flessione con lo stesso peso caricato in punta mi ha dato un risultato sorprendente: avevano al stessa flessione.

Two identical blanks, one solid and one hollow shark toot, which were made from strips from the same culm and heat treated at the same time which were  subjected to flexing under the same weight applied to the tip gave a surprising result. They flexed the exact same way.
